common house plants images of the same age, both species are related to a single gene, a long-lived gene known as plastikin-A1. These genes can activate the same genes in different populations.

In some cases, we can learn about all of these genes from what comes from the bacteria and bacteria cells we encounter. (See example code below for information.)

In one of the recent articles, a group of scientists used techniques to examine different generations of genes in an early bacterium, "Bacterium Bacterium B." The scientists found that these plastikins' genes make changes in a gene called plastikin-B. This "short-lived gene" has been active in the bacteria for billions of years already.

The discovery of the new gene, and its potential applications, made the New Republic's research a first. The researchers are exploring the role of plastikins in the immune systems, while keeping "out of the way" the genes, as in the case of the bacteria (see also below, which was shared in the New Republic article from 2009).

A plastikin-B gene will be an important target to the antiviral and anti-cancer strategies of cancer treatment because it may help them resist infection, prevent or control diseases. For example
